  • Salary: Candidates holding an active teaching license with KSDE would be placed on KSSB’s teacher salary schedule. Candidates with an active substitute license (KS) paid at a rate of $25 an hour.
  • Location: Kansas State School for the Blind located in Kansas City, Kansas
  • Employment Date: August 12, 2025
  • Schedule: Follows the school calendar (181 working days) and may require attendance at special events outside of normal working hours, including weekends.
  • Job Description: We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated teacher (TSVI preferred) to join our
    team at the Kansas State School for the Blind (KSSB). While a TSVI certificate is preferred, we
    encourage applications from teachers holding other licensure or substitute licensure with KSDE.
    In this role, you will be instrumental in providing engaging physical education and movement activities for elementary and secondary students who are blind or visually impaired. You will also be responsible for teaching essential skills related to daily living, independent living, and health. There is a possibility of teaching CPR as well.
    The successful candidate will be certified as a lifeguard or be willing to obtain lifeguard certification. KSSB is proud to offer a newly accessible gymnasium, a refurbished pool, and remodeled fitness rooms, providing an exceptional environment for both students and staff.

  • Schedule: Monday thru Thursday (7:15 AM to 3:45 PM) Friday 7:15 AM to 1:15pm
  • Employment Date: Open until filled
  • Job Description: (Brief synopsis-full description upon request) Work schedule follows school calendar year. This position performs any combination of instructional and vocational tasks to work with students in small groups to promote the acquisition of daily living, transition, and Expanded Core Curriculum skills established by the State of Kansas, the Kansas State School for the Blind, and directives of lead supervisor and/or manager.
